Kit Journal
week five

May 10 1998, Noon: It's Mothers Day !! So I spent the morning pampering the mommie ferrets. I am gradually getting Li'l Honey used to me moveing the kits out. The weaning is progressing well, they sure do like their mush! I am hoping to have them weaned by the end of next week or sooner, I don't want them learning their Moms BAD habits!

May 11 1998, 11am: I am sitting typing this as I watch the kits eat their mush, the eyes are gradually opening. When I went in this morning they started squeeking as soon as they heard my voice. Could they possibly recognize the sound of my voice? I love ferrets!

May 12 1998, 10 am: The kits eyes are opening more each day, they seem to see light now and they are becoming more interactive each day. I thought I was addicted to ferrets before? That was just a minor fascination!

May 13 1998, 10 am: Our neighbors little boy Jesse had the honor of nameing the kit we are keeping, So he named him Jesse of course, now the little guy is 4 and each time he sees the ferret he shouts, Hey! thats Me! so cute.

May 14 1998, 10 am: Everybody's eyes are now open and they were eating solid food out of Moms dish today!

May 15 1998, 11 am: Li'l Honey drove her babies out of the box this morning and refuses to let them back in. Considering that they are eating solid food we have set up a separate bed inside for them. They are now independant from mom!

May 16 1998, 9 am: The kits are happy and thriving they do not appear to miss mom at all, they are 5 weeks old tonight!
