Enlarged Spleen

The exact cause of an enlarged spleen in ferrets is at this time unknown. There seems to be links

between splenomegaly and serious illness' (ie: lymphosarcoma, insulinoma) An enlarged spleen is

common in ferrets, especialy in ferrets over 3 years of age. An enlarged spleen can cause extreme

lethargy, and in some cases a high fever. In many cases removal of the spleen is nescessary .
